Why Do Old TV Antennas Suddenly Stop Working?
Why do old TV antennas suddenly stop working? Well, in some cases they don’t really “stop” working; instead, they just lose their efficiency. Just like a machine that has been functioning for years, TV antennas deteriorate over time, too.
A few days ago, Mr Antenna was called to a TV antenna installation job in Elsternwick. Since the customer moved back to the property in 2011, this was the first time they would be replacing their TV antenna. The lovely couple said that the TV antenna’s performance was good up until last month. Aside from the fact that the TV images started becoming very pixelated, they started losing channels one by one every day.
We had Stuart, one of our TV antenna specialists in Elsternwick, come to the customer’s home to investigate. There was extreme rusting on the TV antenna and the cabling was very disorganised. That explained it. If the cables are not connected properly to the TV antenna this can also cause disruptions to the TV reception.
Given that the customer’s TV antenna was already old, Stuart recommended having it replaced by a new one. The customer agreed and requested to install a digital TV antenna for more advanced features. Stuart also tidied up the cable connections and ensured that they were routed properly to the TV. After some signal and image quality testing, the TV images came up clear as day and all the channels were restored. They were very thankful to Stuart.
