In the southern suburb of Reynella today, Mr. Antenna’s friendly hero, Tony, visited a customer who wanted a solution to the problem of birds roosting on his antenna disturbing him through the night.

After a quick site survey where he had a look at the existing antenna and checked FTA reception at the TV, Tony provided the customer with a couple of options. He could relocate the antenna, but he was worried the customer would still hear the birds. So another way was to install a new antenna in a different location with bird-deterrent spikes added. However, relocating the antenna and adding bird spikes fell outside the customer’s budget.

So, they decided to use the same location and install bird-deterrent spikes on the existing antenna. This was within his budget and provided peace of mind. Tony explained that in his experience, with the deterrent in place, the birds usually went elsewhere looking for a more comfortable place to roost. Once the installation was complete, Tony re-measured the received signal on the TV and tuned and checked the channels. All perfect, as was the customer’s grateful smile.
