TV reception issue in Hallett Cove

TV reception issues should be the least of our worries, so when it happens, it can be frustrating!

A customer called Mr. Antenna because of the real problems he was facing with his TV reception in Hallett Cove. On reaching out, he found that channel 9 was not showing at all while the rest were intermittently pixelated. A quick reception check revealed that the antenna signal was very poor due to an old analog antenna mounted in a bad location. It was too low on the roof with a grapevine slowly growing up around it. The technician replaced the existing antenna with a good quality digital equivalent. And relocate it to a more suitable position on the roof.

Hence Tony, one of our local antenna heroes in SA, went and helped the customer. His first job was the removal and disposal of the old antenna followed by the installation of a gutter mount bracket on the side of the house well away from the offending grapevine. To pull in a much improved digital signal, a brand new Matchmaster Digital High Gain antenna was installed. As a result, the signal quality turned perfect, but the level was a little low. Keeping that in mind, we finished off the outside installation with a masthead amplifier to boost our received signal level.

The existing internal cabling was to digital standard, but a bit untidy. The existing cable was coming out of a hole in the wall as a bare lead straight to the TV. This was rectified through an installation of an F-type wall plate and flylead, along with the power injector required to power up the masthead amplifier. The job was finished off with a signal check of 75 dBuV at the wall plate, with MER & C/N indicators giving us perfect HD reception. On tuning in, the TVshowed the updated channels.

The customer was extremely happy with the results and said she’ll recommend us to her friends.
